As on November 9, 2016, Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), a `Maharatna' firm, has been awarded the prestigious Golden Peacock Award for Corporate Governance for 2016 during the 16th London Global Convention on Corporate Governance and Sustainability held in London.
SAIL was presented the award on account of its exemplary performance in the field of corporate governance that.is for balancing the interests of all the stakeholders of the company i.e., shareholders, management, customers, suppliers, financiers, government and the community. Golden Peacock awards Instituted by the Institute of Directors (IoD) in 1991.
SAIL is one of the largest state-owned steel firm in India and the 24th largest steel producer in the world. It was founded in 1954 and incorporated in 1973 and headquartered in New Delhi.
